Mist - Syrian refugee crisis

Mist
Book Design / Exhibition / Display

Mist is a book design and display project consisting of two parts: 'Mist' and 'Wist'.

The refugee problem is a huge challenge for Europe and the world. I hope through the Mist project, people will pay attention to this issue and its far-reaching impact. Aside from the book design, I used four different ways to exhibit this book, in which the problem can be presented to the audience more intuitively.

Sea Prayer is a short, powerful, illustrated book written by beloved novelist Khaled Hosseini in response to the current refugee crisis, Sea Prayer is composed in the form of a letter, from a father to his son, on the eve of their journey. The content of this book gives me information about a Syrian refugee's emotional I chose Sea Prayer's content as the texts of my design.

Inspiration
Alan Kurdi (Kurdish: Alan Kurdî‎), initially reported as Alan Kurdi, was a three-year-old Syrian boy of Kurdish ethnic background whose image made global headlines after he drowned on 2 September 2015 in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Syrian refugee crisis is no old news, this crisis has affected not only the Syrian people but also the situation in Europe. Over the years, the issue develops from regional conflicts to an event affecting global stability.
Yet in China, this problem never received the attention it deserves. Most people only know about the news but never understand the impact it will have on us.
This gives me the intention of doing the Mist project, to raise attention on this issue. And when doing this project, I began to understand the complexity and two-sidedness of this problem.
